Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Wednesday, May 30th, 2018.
****Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Christin Stewart went 2-for-4 with a home run for Triple-A Toledo. He’s hitting .290/.374/.585 overall with 13 homers, 23 walks, and 39 strikeouts in 176 at-bats. He’ll be ready for a major league trial later this year.
****Texas Rangers prospect Bubba Thompson went 4-for-5 with a homer and three runs scored for Low-A Hickory.
****San Diego Padres prospect Fernando Tatis Jr went 3-for-5 yesterday for Double-A San Antonio. Since May 1st he’s hitting .351/.427/.649.
*****Pittsburgh Pirates rookie outfielder Austin Meadows went 3-for-5 with a home run against the Chicago Cubs. He’s 18-for-41 in his first 11 major league games for a spectacular .439 average.
****Cincinnati Reds prospect Hunter Greene had his second good start in a row, going five innings for Low-A Dayton with one run allowed on three hits and two walks, fanning four. This brings his ERA down to 7.18. In 26 innings he’s allowed 37 hits and 14 walks but with 36 strikeouts. Three of his last four outings have been effective.
