Minor League Ball Gameday: Saturday, March 31st, 2018

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Saturday, March 31st, 2018. A few highlights from yesterday:

****Miami Marlins rookie Caleb Smith made his first start yesterday (just the third of his major league career) against the Chicago Cubs, going 5.1 innings, giving up four hits, three walks, and one run while fanning eight. Marlins teammate Lewis Brinson went 4-for-8 in the game, which went 17 innings.

****San Diego Padres rookie Joey Lucchesi went 4.2 innings in his major league debut against the Milwaukee Brewers, giving up seven hits and three run. He fanned just one but didn’t walk anybody.

****Philadelphia Phillies rookie shortstop J.P. Crawford went 1-for-4 but scored a pair of runs against the Atlanta Braves.

****Billy McKinney made his major league debut for the New York Yankees, starting in left field against the Toronto Blue Jays and going 1-for-4.
