Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Saturday, March 24th, 2018.
****The big prospect news yesterday was Yairo Munoz making the Opening Day roster for the St. Louis Cardinals. Hitting .365/.411/.596 will do that, plus Munoz has more defensive versatility than Harrison Bader (who also hit well this spring at .313/.346/.500).
****Houston Astros prospect J.D. Davis hit two home runs against the Minnesota Twins in spring training action, giving him five plateknocks on the spring to go with a .365/.393/.712 slash line.
****Oakland Athletics lefty Jesus Luzardo, a favorite here at Minor League Ball among both staff and readers, fanned three over 2.2 scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels.
****Another Minor League Ball favorite, Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto, went 2-for-4 with a home run against the Miami Marlins.
****In college action, University of Florida right-hander and likely first-round draft pick Brady Singer threw seven innings against the Arkansas Razorbacks, fanning seven against two walks but allowing seven hits and six runs in a 6-3 Gators defeat. Singer now has a 3.00 ERA in 39 innings with a 39/7 K/BB and 31 hits allowed.
