Arizona Fall League morning report: 2018’s time in the desert ends on a walk off

Or was it a carry-off? The Atlanta Braves Braxton Davidson goes yard in the 10th and breaks his foot coming home. Discuss.

Another Arizona Fall League season has come to an end. The Peoria Javelinas were the best team from start to finish, racking up 22 wins, that last victory coming on a walk off home run from the Atlanta Braves Braxton Davidson to win the championship 3-2 over Salt River.

The Rafters Jordan Yamamoto (Miami Marlins) had an interesting start. He went four, two-hit, shutout innings, striking out six. But he also walked five batters. His counterpart, Peoria’s Miguel Diaz (San Diego Padres) wasn’t as sharp, allowing the only Rafters runs to score in his 3.2 innings pitched (albeit only one was earned). The Braves hulking 6’9” lefty Adam McCreery picked up the win with his fourth-straight shutout appearance of the fall.

Davidson, who had a nice fall in the power department, blew up social media, first with the bomb, then with the bat flip, and then with being carried off the field, seemingly breaking his foot jumping to celebrate the home run.

The bizarre career of Davidson would only be fitting if he is moved this offseason and that was his final at bat in a Braves uniform. But alas, the season is over, Peoria is your champs.

So, who left a mark on you this fall? Who is your MVP? What else stood out?

Here were just a few of the names repeated throughout the season in our AFL morning discussions. Thoughts on these guys?

Next up are the winter meetings. Get ready Minor League Ball, we’re just getting started in our “offseason”.
