Good morning everyone. Here’s what happened in the Arizona Fall League yesterday:
***Surprise defeated Glendale 9-2. Saguaros starter Nate Pearson of the Toronto Blue Jays system threw five shutout innings while teammate Will Craig of the Pittsburgh Pirates hit a three-run homer. Fellow Pirate prospect Bryan Reynolds had two hits, as did Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Jared Walker in the losing cause.
***Peoria blasted Mesa 14-3 behind a 13-hit attack. Tampa Bay Rays prospects Lucius Fox and Ronaldo Hernandez each had three hits for the victors, while Chicago Cubs prospect Erick Leal finally proved human, giving up six runs in three innings for Mesa. Atlanta Braves prospect Braxton Davidson hit a home run for the winners while Detroit Tigers prospect Daz Cameron went 2-for-5 for Mesa, raising his average to .324.
****Scottsdale eased past Salt River 4-2. Houston Astros prospect Abraham Toro led the Scorpions attack with two hits including one triple and two walks, while starting pitcher Tyler Viza from the Philadelphia Phillies system threw five shutout innings with nine strikeouts. Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Jon Duplantier threw four shutout innings in the losing cause.
