Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Arizona Fall League morning roundup for Tuesday, October 16th, 2018. Here’s what happened yesterday in the AFL.
****Peoria beat up Salt River 13-4, putting up an 8-spot in the fifth inning. No home runs were hit but eight of the nine Javelinas batters collected at least one hit and ten walks were drawn including three each from San Diego Padres prospect Hudson Potts and Milwaukee Brewers prospect Keston Hiura. Atlanta Braves prospect Thomas Burrows struck out four in two innings of bullpen work.
****Mesa shut out Glendale 8-0. Solar Sox shortstop Nico Hoerner of the Chicago Cubs system led the way with three hits, while starting pitcher Jesus Castillo of the Los Angeles Angels system fanned five over three innings.
****Another pitching-oriented game saw Surprise nip Scottsdale 2-0. Kansas City Royals pitching prospect Scott Blewett threw four shutout innings for the victors with four strikeouts.
