Yesterday was Day Three of the 2018 Arizona Fall League and here are a few items worthy of your attention:
****Mesa edged Peoria 10-9 behind a 15-hit assault plus four errors by the Javelinas defense. The Solar Sox attack was led by Chicago Cubs prospect Trent Giambrone (4-for-6), Oakland Athletics prospect Eli White (3-for-5) and a home run from Boston Red Sox farmhand Esteban Quiroz. Tampa Bay Rays prospect Lucius Fox hit a three-run home run for the Javelinas.
****Surprise defeated Glendale in another 10-9 contest. No home runs were hit by either team but St. Louis Cardinals prospect Tommy Edman, Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Cole Tucker, Texas Rangers prospect Charles Leblanc, Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds, and Kansas City Royals outfielder Khalil Lee each had two hits for the victors.
****Salt River beat Scottsdale 7-6. Arizona Diamondbacks third base prospect Drew Ellis hit a home run for the Rafters while teammate Tyler Nevin from the Colorado Rockies system went 3-for-5. Houston Astros prospect Abraham Toro-Hernandez hit two doubles for the Scorpions, while fellow Astros prospect right-hander J.B. Bukauskas struck out five men in 3.1 innings of work.
