Pittsburgh Pirates organization discussion

Let’s talk about the rebuilding. . .

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at San Diego Padres

I am now working on the Baltimore Orioles Top 20 prospects list for 2018. The next team in line is the Pittsburgh Pirates, to be followed by the Los Angeles Angels, Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Rays, and the San Francisco Giants.

Use this thread to discuss the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Possible points for discussion include, but are certainly not limited to:

****The Pirates finished 74-88 in 2017, fourth place in the National League Central Division. The Gerrit Cole and Andrew McCutchen trades kick off the rebuilding process in earnest. How bad will it get in 2018? Will they tank completely, or can they get somewhere around .500?

****What do you think of the big trades? Did they get enough?

****In 677 major league at-bats, slightly over one season of play, Josh Bell has hit .258/.341/.455 with 29 homers, 87 walks, and 136 strikeouts. He’s 25 now. Can he improve substantially on this level of production?

****A similar question for 26-year-old Jameson Taillon: is he as good as he’s going to get, or is there something more in the tank?

****What would you do with Tyler Glasnow? How do you fix him?

****Your plan for Austin Meadows?

****As always, feel free to share your prospect sleepers or anything else Pirates-oriented. Please remember that we avoid politics and religion on this website.
