This morning I began work on the Cincinnati Reds Top 20 prospects for 2018 list. The next team in line is the Seattle Mariners, to be followed by the Miami Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Angels, Colorado Rockies, and the Chicago White Sox.
Use this thread to discuss the Seattle Mariners organization. Possible points for discussion include, but are certainly not limited to:
****The Mariners finished 78-84 in 2017, third place in the American League Western Division. What’s a fair expectation for 2018? Can they get over .500? Can they challenge for the division lead? Or will they fall back?
****Although he fought injuries, outfielder Mitch Haniger had a successful rookie campaign, hitting .282/.352/.491 in 369 at-bats. Assuming he’s healthy in ‘18, does he match those numbers, beat them significantly, or all into a sophomore slump?
****Fellow outfield rookie Ben Gamel hit .275/.322/.413. Can he improve significantly?
****What’s your impression of the farm system?
****If the Mariners put you in charge of drafting for 2018, what would be your approach? Try to be more specific than “best player available”.
****As always, feel free to discuss sleepers or anything else Mariner-oriented.
