Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Monday, September 4th, 2017, Labor Day.

My son is back home from the hospital and recovering very rapidly; we hope to have him back at school tomorrow and get our lives back on a regular schedule. Thanks for your patience everyone.

****Yesterday’s highlights can be found in Sunday’s discussion thread.

****Analysis of all the deadline trades involving prospects can be found here.

COOL STUFF THAT HAPPENED ON SUNDAY

****Chicago White Sox rookie starter Lucas Giolito allowed just one run over seven innings against the Tampa Bay Rays, giving up three hits and a walk while fanning 10. That’s the Lucas Giolito the White Sox were expecting when they acquired him from the Nationals. I have an article in the works for later in the week about the enigmatic but immensely talented right-hander.

****Another component of that trade, right-hander Dane Dunning, threw a seven-inning one-hit shutout for High-A Winston-Salem, fanning nine with zero walks allowed. He finished the season with a 2.94 ERA in 144 innings with a 168/38 K/BB.

****Texas Rangers prospect Willie Calhoun went 3-for-5 with two homers and eight RBI for Triple-A Round Rock against Oklahoma City.

****St. Louis Cardinals prospect Tyler O’Neill went 3-for-6 with a home run and five RBI for Triple-A Memphis. He’s homered in five of his last six games and has 31 bombs on the season.
