It’s September and the rosters have expanded. Alex Verdugo and Francisco Mejia are probably two of the bigger names getting the call. There are plenty of other rookies getting their shots as well.
Ricky Keeler took a look at the red-hot Wilmer Font back in June. He parlayed his surprising success into a call to The Show. I took a look at Greg Allen in the preseason, wondering when his time would come. Today is that day.
There are plenty more on their way and we will have a write up for hopefully all of them. Until then, Eric Cole created a thread for the daily action. If you haven’t chimed in, please go do so!
Let’s not forget one thing. There are minor league playoff series right around the corner. We are in the heat of some fun playoff chases with just one weekend left to play.
So let’s get down to business.
DUEL OF THE DAY: Tyler Glasnow goes against surprising Detroit Tigers right Artie Lewicki. Lewicki has been lights out in his first taste of Triple-A, going 5-0 with a 2.03 ERA and a 33-to-7 strikeout-to-walk rate in 31 innings.
Mitch Keller is set to toe the rubber, as is Michael Kopech. If you’re a Mississippi Braves fan you get a double-dip of Kolby Allard and Mike Soroka today. Not too shabby.
