COOL STUFF THAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY

****St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitching prospect Luke Weaver threw seven shutout innings for Triple-A Memphis yesterday, fanning four, giving up no walks and four hits. After starting on April 6th he missed three weeks with a back injury, but since returning he’s been lights out, throwing 13 shutout innings with a 9/0 K/BB.

****Outfield prospect Jason Martin hit three homers yesterday for the Buies Creek Astros in the High-A Carolina League. He’s now hitting .279/.350/.462.

****An excellent game yesterday for Colorado Rockies prospect and 2015 first-round pick Brendan Rodgers: 4-for-4 with a home run for High-A Lancaster, pushing his season line to .352/.368/.500 in 54 at-bats.

****Toronto Blue Jays prospect Danny Jansen hit two homers in the third inning for High-A Dunedin yesterday, going 4-for-5 overall with three RBI. The 22-year-old catching prospect is now hitting .394/.439/.577 in 104 at-bats. He has some work to do with the glove but the bat looks excellent right now.
