YESTERDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

****Baltimore Orioles rookie Trey Mancini is solidifying his hold on a job with a hot start in the majors, slamming two more home runs yesterday and now hitting .364/.417/.955 in his first 22 at-bats.

****Another bright spot in the thin Orioles farm system is right-hander Ofelky Peralta, who fanned nine over five shutout innings yesterday for the Frederick Keys in the Carolina League. He’s only 19 years old and has been clocked as high as 97 MPH.

****Chicago Cubs prospect Ian Happ continues to murder Triple-A pitching, hitting his sixth homer yesterday in 11 games for the Iowa Cubs.

****The Tampa Bay Rays have promoted pitching prospect Brent Honeywell to Triple-A Durham. That’s understandable given 20 strikeouts in his first two starts in Double-A!
