Good day everyone, and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Friday, April 14th, 2017. Let’s get down to business.
****Today’s Minor League Scoreboard
****Beyond the Boxscore’s excellent daily MLB summary
YESTERDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS
****Kansas City Royals pitching prospect Josh Staumont fanned 12 over six innings, giving up just one hit for Triple-A Omaha against Round Rock.
****Chicago Cubs prospect Ian Happ hit another home run for Triple-A Iowa, giving him five in his first eight games as part of a .303/.361/.788 slash line in 33 at-bats.
****Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Lewis Brinson dislocated a pinkie finger on opening day and was out of the lineup for a week for Triple-A Colorado Springs. He came back yesterday and went 1-for-5 but the one hit was a home run.
****Five shutout innings yesterday from Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Kolby Allard, fanning three, walking two, and allowing two hits. Not shabby for a 19-year-old pushed to Double-A on an aggressive schedule.
****Exceptional outing yesterday from Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Dane Dunning: eight innings for Low-A Kannapolis, three hits, no runs, no walks, 13 strikeouts. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Dunning ends up being the best pitcher the White Sox got in the Adam Eaton deal?
****Other highlights from yesterday can be found in the discussion thread.
