I am now working on the Cleveland Indians Top 20 prospects list for 2018. The next team in line is the San Diego Padres, to be followed by the Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners , Miami Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Use this thread to discuss the San Diego Padres organization. Possible points for discussion include, but are certainly not limited to:
****The Padres finished 71-91 in 2017, fourth place in the National League Western division. Not a great year but it could have been much worse: indeed, their Pythagorean W/L was a dismal 59-103. Can they get closer to .500 in 2018? Or will they fall back further?
****What’s your outlook for Manuel Margot, both short-term (2018) and long-term (2020 and beyond)?
****Same question for Austin Hedges. Will his bat improve further?
****Dinelson Lamet: is he as good as he’s going to get? Or can he take a step forward into being a consistently above-average starter, or more?
****Looking at the prospects, what’s your development plan for infielder Luis Urias? How soon do you push to get him into the lineup, and where?
****Fernando Tatis Jr. . .your plans for him?
****MacKenzie Gore: is it possible he could be ready for the majors by 2020?
****As always, please discuss sleeper prospects you like or anything else Padres-oriented.
