Good day everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Wednesday, November 8th, 2017. Here’s what happened in the Arizona Fall League yesterday.
*****The Salt River Rafters nipped the Scottsdale Scorpions 3-2, with the winning margin provided by a home run from Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Monte Harrison, his fourth of the fall. He went 3-for-4 and is hitting .314/.351/.714 overall. The home run came off San Francisco Giants prospect Tyler Beede, who otherwise pitched well with one run over five innings of work, fanning five.
*****Kansas City Royals infield prospect Nicky Lopez homered to leadoff the first inning for the Surprise Saguaros, setting the tone for a 6-1 win over the Glendale Desert Dogs. Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Burch Smith (remember him?) threw four shutout innings for the victory.
*****The Mesa Solar Sox defeated the Peoria Javelinas 5-1 behind the strong pitching of Detroit Tigers right-hander Spencer Turnbull, who gave up one run over four innings. Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles and Tigers prospect Cam Gibson each stole two bases in the winning cause. Atlanta Braves prospect Austin Riley provided the only Peoria run with a solo homer.
*****There are no games scheduled for today.
