Talking prospects with 27 Outs Baseball and Notes from the Sally

This past week I got to team up with some great minor league guys and talk shop. Please check it out!

This past week I had two great opportunities.

First, Ben Poplin and Chris Hogan invited me on 27 Outs Baseball’s podcast, The Interview. As most of our community here knows, I have the honor of covering the Rome Braves. Ben is often the first guy I see when I walk into the press box and one of the hardest working guys in the business. When he’s not managing game day, he’s talking Berry football, running a pod cast, or making appearances on radio shows across the nation (seriously, I think he was on in Montana recently!). Chris was raised on minor league baseball, and is a true prospect junkie in every sense of the word.

This is a great podcast that focuses on everything in the minor league world. They’ve had on former and current players, play-by-play guys and even some people who organize some of the zany promotions that make minor league baseball the glorious sport it is.

They asked me on to talk about the Braves and Yankees farm systems, as well as opine on the big league Yankees surprising run. You can catch them every Sunday live at 9 p.m., but every show is archived. Please take a listed to yours truly from last week.

John Calvagno is a former Minor League Ball writer and one of the best amateur prospect writers in the game. When he left here, he started his site Notes from the Sally. It has grown tremendously, as he now travels to Appy League games as well. Bobby DeMuro’s Baseball Census named it the resource of the year.

We have picked each other’s brains for two years in season, and you’ll occasionally see him referenced in my work here. We finally teamed up with fellow Talking Chop and Minor League Ball writer Matt Powers to throw together the 2018 Rome Braves preview.

Please check it out, and if you don’t have it book marked, please do as John is one of the best sources on the Sally.
