Good day everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Thursday, November 16th, 2017. Here are highlights from yesterday’s action in the Arizona Fall League.
*****San Diego Padres pitching prospect Walker Lockett threw six strong innings for the Peoria Javelinas, giving up two hits and a run while fanning six, leading his teammates to a 4-1 triumph over the Scottsdale Scorpions. Fellow Padres prospect Luis Urias went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
*****Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Mitch Keller gave up nine hits over four innings but dodged too much damage, giving up one earned run for the Glendale Desert Dogs in their 5-4 win over the Salt River Rafters. Cleveland Indians prospect Ka’ai Tom went 2-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored for the victors.
*****The Mesa Solar Sox beat the Surprise Saguaros 5-2, with Detroit Tigers prospect A.J. Simcox leading the Sox offense by going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI. Solar Sox pitchers fanned 13 over nine innings including five whiffs over four frames from starting pitcher Framber Valdez of the Houston Astros system.
