43-year-old Bartolo Colon is as far removed from being a prospect as one can be. . .I wrote him up as a prospect 20 years ago. . .and not normally the type of player we discuss around here. Way back in 1996 when he was 22/23 years old he was one of the top minor league pitching prospects in the game, but I don't think anyone predicted he would still be pitching at age 43, let alone pitching well.
Here's a discussion question for you:
If you had to bet a dollar on a current young pitcher still be pitching, and pitching decently, in the majors in the year 2036, who would you bet that dollar on?
Qualifications: no one older than 23, but it can be someone with major league experience.
