Hello, fine folks at Minor League Ball. My name is Jen Mac Ramos and I just recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California. I’m born and raised and based out of Central California at the moment, conveniently located between multiple minor league towns.
I’ve been covering the California League since 2013, with this being my fourth season. I mostly cover the Modesto Nuts for Purple Row and I write about Giants prospects at McCovey Chronicles. I’ve been fascinated with the inner workings of scouting and Minor League Baseball since I was a teenager, and I hope to hone my skills in evaluation and feature writing here.
When it comes to player evaluation, I do have a tendency to evaluate pitchers more than hitters, which I blame a lot on my teenage fandom around Tim Lincecum’s pitch repertoire. Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for killer changeups and a deceptive delivery. If I can’t find that, I’m more than content watching work-in-progress curveballs.
Other than writing about the minor leagues and basically living at Cal League parks, I’m also an editor at Yardbarker and I’m a contributing writer at MLB Daily Dish.
I hope y’all enjoy what I bring to the table.
