Here is your Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Monday, August, 1st, 2016.

****Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Andrew Benintendi went 4-for-5 with two homers last night for Double-A Portland. He's now hitting .295/.357/.515 since his promotion to that level and stands at .312/.378/.532 combined between Double-A and High-A.

Benintendi has now played 151 professional games since signing out of the University of Arkansas in 2015, hitting .312/.392/.540 with 38 doubles, 16 triples, 20 homers, 26 steals, and a remarkably good BB/K ratio of 74 walks and just 63 strikeouts in 570 at-bats.

****Seattle Mariners rookie right-hander Edwin Diaz has joined the "elite heat" society according to Thomas Bennett at Beyond the Boxscore, hitting a max of 101.4 MPH since his promotion to the majors. Personally I liked Diaz as a starting pitching prospect even if he didn't throw as hard in that role, but it is hard to argue with the results of the relief conversion thus far (1.80 ERA, 49/7 K/BB in just 25 innings).
