Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday thread for Friday, July 29th.

Some items for discussion today:

****St. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Luke Weaver had an excellent start last night for Double-A Springfield in the Texas League, going eight innings with eight strikeouts, no walks, three hits and two runs allowed against Northwest Arkansas. On the season Weaver now stands at 5-3 in 11 starts for Springfield with a spectacular 1.29 ERA and a 79/9 K/BB. Texas League observers are full of praise for his pitching instincts and his stuff seems to have taken a step forward this year as well. The 2014 first-rounder out of Florida State certainly looks ready to move up to Triple-A at any time.

****At Beyond the Boxscore, Austin Yamada looks at the potential trade values of Chris Sale, Jose Quintana, and Chris Archer. Who would bring the best prospect package?

****Along similar lines, Dave Cameron at Fangraphs looks at potential returns on Sale in greater detail.

****Carson Cistulli's weekly Fringe Five article is always worth a read.
