Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Thursday, July 21st edition of Minor League Ball Gameday. Here is your daily mecca for minor league baseball prospect discussion, or anything baseball related really. Some items of interest to get you started:
****Jake Devin at Pinstripe Alley asks: should the New York Yankees be willing to trade Dellin Betances? What do you guys think? What could they get in return?
****New York Mets fans are understandably excited about the early returns from lefties Thomas Szapucki and Max Wotell down at Kingsport in the Appalachian League. Szapucki has been up to 96 MPH according to Milb.com while Wotell's velocity has been erratic but you can't argue with the early statistical results (Szapucki 0.62 ERA, 47/9 K/BB in 29 innings, Wotell 2.49, 24/7 in 22 innings). It will be interesting to see if both or either of them are promoted to the New York-Penn League in August.
****Eric Longenhagen at Fangraphs gives us a scouting report on Chicago Cubs prospect Dan Vogelbach.
****Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Kyle Lewis, drafted in the first round this year out of Mercer, has torn his ACL and will miss the rest of the season reports Baseball America. Mariners fans mourn at Lookout Landing as they are wont to do.
