Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Glorious First of June edition of the Minor League Ball Gameday. Glorious First of June? What the heck is that? It was a famous naval battle, actually, between Great Britain and France in the French Revolutionary War on June 1st, 1794.

Some discussion and baseball reading items on the agenda for today.

****Baltimore Orioles first base prospect Christian Walker has been in a slump recently with Triple-A Norfolk. Perhaps that will change after he went 4-for-4 with four RBI yesterday in an 8-6 Tides victory over Lehigh Valley.

****Minnesota Twins lefty Tyler Jay fanned 11 over eight innings yesterday in his start for High-A Fort Myers. The conversion from college closer to professional starting pitcher seems to be going well, the 2015 first round pick from Illinois posting a 2.44 ERA in nine starts with a 55/14 K/BB in 52 innings.

****Jerry Burnes at Beyond the Boxscore looks at the upcoming wave of shortstop prospects led by Dansby Swanson of the Atlanta Braves.

****Domenic Lanza at Fake Teams looks at the fantasy value of Rays outfielder Mikie Mahtook.

As always, discuss today's minor league happenings in the comment thread.
