Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Thursday, May 26th, edition of the Minor League Ball Gameday. Here are some items worthy of your attention.
****Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Byron Buxton has rediscovered his bat with Triple-A Rochester, hitting .415 over his last 10 contests including a 3-for-4 night yesterday. Overall he's at .333/.394/.576 since going back to the minors, with four steals in four attempts, nine walks and 24 strikeouts in 99 at-bats. I'd still like to see a better BB/K/PA ratio, but at least he's hitting. Obviously he'll be back in Minnesota sometime this summer.
****On the negative side, the timetable for two other elite prospects has been slowed by injury. New York Yankees catching prospect Gary Sanchez went on the disabled list with a fractured thumb, while Cleveland Indians outfield prospect Clint Frazier has been shelved with a significant hamstring pull.
****Stacey Gotsulias at Beyond the Boxscore reminds us that Steven Matz and his 7-1 record reflect quality pitching for the New York Mets and not just good run support and luck.
****Los Angeles Dodgers lefty Julio Urias is coming to the majors. Obviously we'll get him written up ASAP.
****Quinn Canelias at Faketeams thinks Joe Musgrove of the Houston Astros system will arrive soon too.
We hope to have the Minor League Ball Gameday spreadsheets operational again over the weekend. Thank you for your patience. As usual, use the discussion thread below to talk about prospect happenings and other baseball news this afternoon and evening.
