Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the May 23, 2016 edition of the Minor League Ball Gameday. Here are some notable items for discussion and consideration this Monday afternoon.
****New York Yankees shortstop prospect Jorge Mateo is learning second base. David Dorsey at Newspress.com takes a look. He's certainly having an outstanding year with the bat, hitting .313/.369/.528; adding additional defensive versatility to the mix will only enhance his value.
****St. Louis Cardinals prospect Alex Reyes comes back from drug suspension with eight strikeouts in his 2016 debut.
****Joe Vasile at Beyond the Boxscore examines the breakout of Miami Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich.
****Boston Red Sox lefty Brian Johnson has been placed on the inactive list so he can seek treatment for anxiety. Marc Normandin at Over the Monster also contributes notes on Bosox prospects third baseman Rafael Devers, right-hander Roniel Raudes, and right-hander Chandler Shepherd.
The prospect spreadsheet hasn't been fully restored to operational status just yet but we're working on it. Use this thread to discuss the prospect news and top performances of the day as always.
