I am now working on the Chicago White Sox Top 20 prospects list for 2016. The next team in line is the Pittsburgh Pirates, to be followed by the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, the Top 175 prospects list, and organization rankings.
Use this thread to discuss the Pittsburgh Pirates system. Possible points for discussion include, but are certainly not limited to:
****The Pirates finished 98-64 in 2015, second place in the very competitive National League Central Division. Can they get into first place this year? Can they approach 100 wins again, or will they slide back into the pack?
****Is this the year that Gregory Polanco takes a major step forward? Or will he be more of a slow-but-steady improvement guy? Or will he improve at all from where he currently is?
****Gerrit Cole: 2016 National League Cy Young winner? The odds on that?
****Jung Ho Kang was very successful in his American debut. At age 28 he is likely a finished product. . .or is he? Can he improve from here?
****Your ideal development path for Tyler Glasnow? How soon do you push him to the majors?
****Same question for Josh Bell.
****As always, feel free to discuss sleeper prospects or anything else related to the Pirates organization.
