Joey Gallo, trade bait?
Joey Gallo, trade bait?
Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning friendly readers, and welcome to today's edition of Minor League Ball daily notes for March 30, 2016. Here are some baseball links for your edification and amusement.

****SB Nation and MLB Daily Dish have Opening Day story lines for all 30 MLB teams.

****Jason Hunt at FakeTeams has a series of prospect-oriented Bold Predictions. Names mentioned on his list include Max Kepler, Dylan Bundy, Amir Garrett, Joey Gallo, and Tyler Glasnow. What does Hunt see in their future? Will Joey Gallo and Dylan Bundy really become trade bait?

****Derek Harvey at BrewCrewBall has a look at six intriguing prospects in the Milwaukee Brewers system, including our good friend Keon Broxton.

****Will the Phillies "closerless bullpen" kill the save, asks John Stolnis at TheGoodphight.com.

****Frank Firke at The Hardball Times looks at changes in on-line baseball media for 2016, noting particularly the loss of Grantland and Just a Bit Outside. He comments:

As a consumer, I’m not particularly worried that I won’t be able to read the writers I liked at those sites, or that there isn’t enough baseball writing out there. Instead, it’s a concern about a broader decline in quality, both from established names and from up-and-coming analysts.

Firke also discusses the increasing amount of publicly available baseball data such as Statcast. So on the one hand, we have more information available than ever, but on the other hand the consolidation in on-line media could be reducing the number of intelligent and respected voices with an audience.
