Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Monday, March 28 edition of Minor League Ball Daily Notes. Here are some links and tidbits for your baseball edification and amusement on this fine spring afternoon.

****The big news today is the release of the Minor League Ball Top 175 MLB Prospects for 2016 list. I'm answering any question about the list in the discussion thread over there.

****SBNation is featuring a 2016 Opening Day preview for every major league team.

****As reported by numerous sources, the Seattle Mariners have placed former hot prospect Jesus Montero on waivers. It will be interesting to see if he can improve with another organization. Would you take a chance on him if you were running a team?

****Also discussing Montero, Dave Cameron at Fangraphs reminds us how difficult it is to properly project hitting prospects.

****Keeping with the "bad Mariners hitters" meme, you should read Dan Farnsworth's take on the Mariners farm system, particularly his comments regarding Alex Jackson.

****Ben Badler at Baseball America continues his 2015 International Prospect signing reviews, today adding the American League East. It is behind the paywall but is critical reading for anyone interested in deep prospect research.

****The Padres returned Rule 5 draft pick Blake Smith to the White Sox.
