With the Hot Stove cooling off and Spring Training still a few weeks away now is as good a time as any to discuss minor league prospects. Whenever you talk about minor leaguers the focus is always on "ceiling" and "floor" and "potential" or "upside," which makes the off season the perfect time to speculate. The data is fixed and their development is on hold when games aren't actually being played. At bats and innings pitched have a way of distorting the delicate balance that takes place when we try to evaluate a prospects progression to the major leagues.

Not only that but John Sickels is through a significant number of his organizational rankings, I am as well, while MLB Pipeline just came out with their top 100 prospects list and Baseball America and Keith Law from ESPN are coming out with theirs next week. It’s a tsunami of opinions and all the moisture we need to talk up a storm about one of the best topics in baseball, Minor League Prospects.
