Greetings, I'm John Calvagno one of the new writers for Minor League Ball and I'll be writing about the Sally League, I'm excited to be here.
I'm a native of upstate NY outside the Albany area, I now live in Asheville, NC. In the middle I made stops in Ft Lauderdale and Charlotte.
I grew up a Red Sox fan and got to Fenway a bunch in the 80's and 90's before leaving for warmer Winters. While in Fl I got to tons of Marlins games and cheered them on during there run to the 2003 world series, that was exciting. Then of course 2004 happened and the Red Sox broke the 86 year losing streak.
That was my 30th year of Red Sox fandom and there's no words for the euphoria I and everyone else in Red Sox nation felt. I apologize for the cocky, arrogant fan base that emerged after the 04 win.
I started going to minor league games pretty regularly after my move to Charlotte in 2007 and a few years after that I stumbled across Minor League Ball for the first time while researching for an upcoming dynasty draft. I've been stopping by on pretty regularly basis ever since.
I live a mile from McCormick Field home of the Asheville Tourists. I try to get to a game a week either in Asheville or Greenville. I've been prospect writing for Legends on Deck for the last 6 months and I'm grateful to be here. Cheers
