Greetings, Minor League Ball.
My name is Wayne and I am excited to be part of the new group of contributors joining on at Minor League Ball. I grew up a New York Yankees fan, having to go to more games at Shea Stadium than Yankees Stadium due to the fact that my mother was a die hard Mets fan. Unfortunately, I didn't have my own money, nor means of transportation until I was in my teens and when I did, it was Yankees Stadium or bust.
Since then I have moved to Atlanta, and even worked for a few seasons at the Ted, more commonly known as Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves. I left my career behind on January 1, 2014 and decided to go all in and pursue my dream of being a sports writer. I'll relieve you of all of the juicy details because they are in my profile should you be truly interested, but let's say it has been a fun ride. Hearing from John Sickels this past weekend inviting me to work for a man who I have read for some time was both humbling and game changing for sure.
One of my stops along the way here was covering the Yankees farm system, which eventually got me to covering all of Minor League Baseball. I look forward to the next leg of my journey with one of the greatest fan bases around and a great staff working tirelessly to bring you news about the game I love. Thanks for letting me be part of your world Minor League Ball and I look forward to what the future holds!
