Hi everyone, my name is John Moore and I’m one of the new writers here at Minor League Ball.
I’m currently a college student at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio (I’m actually transferring in this coming fall). The story of how I got into prospects is probably different than most of you. Even though I’ve loved watching baseball most of my life I really didn’t get into prospects much until I was a batboy for the Tigers Single-A Midwest League affiliate the West Michigan Whitecaps when I was in High School. This was my first ever real paying job and meeting some of those guys and getting to know them was really cool.
Almost immediately after I started working there I started following prospects closely. I started reading scouting reports and prospect lists on a very regular basis. I just always thought it was cool to find out about guys like Javier Baez (man crush alert) and Byron Buxton before they got called up to the majors and almost everyone knew about them.
This summer you’ll also be able to read some of my stuff at TigsTown.com. If you have any questions, comments or feedback about anything I write here you can always ask me in the comment section on my articles or on twitter (@ajohnmoore), where I mostly tweet about prospects and the Chicago Cubs (#wearegood).
