It's about that time for all the executives, agents, and other heavy hitters in MLB front offices to come together for the annual MLB Winter Meetings. Beginning tomorrow, you can expect to see the hot stove to crank into high gear as things can come together in a matter of hours with all the decision makers in one place. Luckily for you, the amazing Minor League Ball community, I will be in Nashville to bring you coverage from ground zero.
Some years, this is the craziest stretch of the entire offseason with 10-20 trades, free agent signings, and extensions reached in a manner of four days. A lot of the groundwork for these deals are made in November during the General Manager's meetings, but aren't completed until the Winter Meetings. Other years you could mistake them for any old four day stretch over the cold and barren Winter, with the exception of the Rule 5 draft on the final day.
I will be bringing you news as soon as it breaks along with the occasional rumors and mumblings straight from the meetings. Be sure to check my twitter feed (@melotticus), along with my Instagram page for pictures, videos, and general shenanigans from the Opryland Resort and Convention Center. You can follow along with the hashtag #MinorLeagueBallTakesNashville. Also, be sure to tune in to all the coverage on MLB Network as they will be broadcasting live from Nashville, which means copious opportunities for a favorite pastime of mine, photobombing!
We will have more details on our coverage as I get settled in. In the meantime, please take a look at the most recent Top 20 Lists released by John Sickels like the Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Indians, and the upcoming Boston Red Sox Top 20. You can also find the Team Index and a spreadsheet with links to each step of the process in the creation of the team Top 20 lists.
