I'd like to thank everyone for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and wishes regarding the passing of my mother Hilda Sickels this week. Here is a brief look at how things stand.
***Let's all have a large noisy round of applause for Nick Melotte, Quinn Barry, Wayne Cavadi, Bobby Glover, Scott Mowers, and Jake Rashkow, who kept things moving around here during my absence. This was especially important since it came right during the Winter Meetings.
***I have paid absolutely no attention to baseball since Monday night, and by no attention, I mean no attention: no TV, no internet, no radio, nothing. I have a lot of catching up to do. I didn't realize all the players involved in trades until just this afternoon for example. Dansby Swanson. WTF?
***My sister and I are deep in planning the memorial service for my mother as well as making all the necessary legal decisions. My current plan is to take this weekend off to work through these issues, rest and recuperate.
***I plan to return to partial operations on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday although that may slip some depending on events. Next Thursday (December 17) I will be traveling back to Iowa for the memorial service scheduled for the 19th. I won't be working from the 17th through the 20th.
I hope to resume full operational status on Monday the 21st.
Again, I appreciate your patience and all the warm thoughts everyone has sent along. My mother was a remarkable person. You can read more about her here.
