The Memphis Redbirds defeated Omaha Thursday night, 4-3, in Game 2 of the Pacific Coast League American Conference Championship. The teams have split the first two games of the best-of-five series. The remainder of the series moves to Memphis, starting Friday night.
A few facts about the Storm Chasers and the playoffs:
- Omaha has won four straight division titles and three straight PCL American Conference championships.
- If they win the conference again this year, they will become the third team (second in the modern era) to reach the PCL Championship four straight years. The San Francisco Seals did so from 1943-46 and the Albuquerque Dukes did so from 1980-83. Four other teams have made three straight PCL Championships: the Sacramento River Cats did it from 2007-2009, the Hawaii Islanders did it from 1975-1977, the Oakland Oaks did it from 1946-1948 and the Seattle Rainiers did it from 1940-1942.
- The Storm Chasers currently have only five players from the 2013 PCL playoff team on their roster: Buddy Baumann, Brian Fletcher, John Lamb (who did not appear in a playoff game), Clayton Mortensen and Paulo Orlando (who also appeared in the 2012 playoffs with Omaha).
