2014 MLB Draft: Islands Region

New, 24 comments

While there is never a lot of depth in Hawaii or Puerto Rico, there is always some talent. This year there is some impact talent potential.

Islands Region
Islands Region

Hawaii has three very solid talents at the top and Puerto Rico has their mix of toolsy players with potential. Here is the interactive map if you'd like to see where some of these guys are located geographically.

If you appreciate my work and want more of it now and in the future, support me by purchasing the 2014 MLB Draft Book. It will be available between May 19th and May 30th. The longer it takes, the more that will be in it. It's $4.99. PDF only. Last year it was 101 pages and will be larger this year with articles and information.

Name POS Level Floor Ceiling Bats Throws Height Weight Birthdate
Kodi Medeiros P HS 30 65 Left Left 6'1" 185 5/25/96
Ridiculous slider, very good fastball and change. Small build and near sidearm delivery give some pause and tend to hink he's a reliever. I think he could have ace potential if he holds up.
Kainoa Harrison C HS 30 55 Right Right 6'1" 190 8/11/96
Sweet easy swing. Level swing that stays in the zone for a really long time. Good defensive ability. Really good all around player. Pop times above average. Strong arm. Good athlete.
Scott Squier P JR 35 50 Left Left 6'6" 190 9/17/92
Three solid average pitches from the lefty. Up to 93. Interesting arm that could go in the top three rounds.
Alexis Pantojas SS HS 30 50 Left Right 6'1" 150 1/18/96
Long arms. Long swing. Skinny. Great defender at short and should stick there. Gained some muscle over winter and should have some pop because of it.
Marco Rivera Rios CF HS 30 50 Right Right 6'1" 180 3/30/96
Good line drive swing. Big tools. Really strong arm and good speed. Could be a bit of a sleeper.
Yamil Pagan SS HS 30 45 Right Right 6'1" 160 10/3/96
Really skinny. Short contact swing. Really fast with a pretty strong arm. Young for the class.
