Good afternoon and Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone. Green beers for all!! The best showing of the day from a Top 100 player came from a Cubs middle infielder, but not the one most think of. Arismendy Alcantara was 3-3 yesterday with a solo home run and a pair of singles. Not to be outdone, Billy Hamilton swiped two more bases to give him nine on the spring as part of a 2-4 game with an RBI and run scored. Gary Sanchez of the Yankees also wend yard, hitting a pinch hit, two run bomb against the Marlins.

Aaron Sanchez was on point through four innings against Baltimore, not allowing any runs on five hits, a walk, hit batter, and three strike outs. He really carried over his success against the Canadian Jr. National team last time out. Top ranked pitcher Masahiro Tanaka toed the rubber yesterday as well, really showcasing that unhittable splitter over 4.1 innings vs. the Braves. He struck out six, walked two and gave up a run on three hits. Red Six starter Allen Webster was the only other Top 100 pitcher to go at least four frames. He allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits, three walks, and three strike outs.

The best performance of the day was from Nationals outfielder Steven Souza. Souza went on a rampage against the Astros, going 3-3 with a walk and three extra base hites, including a pair of home runs and a triple. Cubs first baseman Dan Vogelbach put his weight behind one as well, sending his first home run of the spring into the stands. Other players to go yikkety include Ronald Guzman (1B-TEX), Zach Lutz (1B-NYM), Tyler Smith (SS-SEA
), Cory Vaughn (OF-NYM), and Deven Marrero (SS-BOS). Keep an eye out on Smith who has looked very good this spring.

There was not a lot of action from pitching prospects yesterday with the most intriguing line from Mariners southpaw Roenis Elias. He allowed only one run in five innings with two hits and two walks allowed with two strike outs. As a matter of fact, the best pitching lines came from lefties all day. Sammy Solis of the Nationals threw two perfect frames with just a walk allowed, and Adam Wilk of the Pirates threw three innings of scoreless baseball with just two hits, no walks or runs allowed and struck out two.
