Good afternoon folks. A lot of the top prospects were in action yesterday so lets get right to the action. Astros short stop Carlos Correa went apeshit, blasting home runs in the second and eighth innings with three RBI against Toronto. Jon Singleton added one of his own of the solo variety to go with a pair of walks and strike outs. Center fielder Jake Marisnick of the Marlins went 2-5 against Detroit, knocking a double and stealing his second bag of the Spring.
Five of the top 15 pitchers (and 30 overall players) each went at least two innings. Only southpaw Andrew Heaney of the Marlins made it unscathed, throwing three scoreless frames with one hit and one walk allowed, to go with a strike out and a wild pitch. O's righty Kevin Gausman made it through two innings with one hit, walk, and run allowed with a wild pitch. Noah Syndergaard was impressive despite allowing three runs in 3.2 innings. He allowed two hits and two walks with five punch outs.
Outside the Top 100, Andrew Susac of the Giants and Tim Wheeler of the Rockies went yard each. Susac in particular was on point last night, reaching base in all four plate appearances with two walks, the home run, a single, run scored and two RBI. Micah Johnson of the Pale Hose knocked in three in a 2-3 appearance. Twinkies short stop prospect Danny Santana was 1-3 with a walk, double, his second steal and he made an error.
Brandon Workman and Red Patterson, of the Red Sox and Dodgers respectively, each took care of three-plus innings of work without allowing a run. Workman allowed a pair of hits with three punch outs in three frames, and Patterson struck out one with only one hit allowed in 3.1 innings. Brewers Rule 5 pick Wei-Chung Wang has been impressive this spring, throwing a scoreless inning with one hit allowed yesterday. This spring he has not allowed a walk or earned run in six innings. He's struck out four with five hits allowed.
