Mesa 4 - Salt River 2 (10 innings)
It took one extra inning to decide the victor with SS Daniel Robertson (MSS) driving in the go-ahead run with a sac fly in the 10th, giving Mesa a one-run lead before they added an insurance run later in the inning. 3B Kaleb Cowart (MSS) registered the only multi-hit game, singling twice while scoring once. 3B Brandon Drury (SRR) provided half the runs for the Rafters, hitting a solo shot in the 1st while also singling and striking out twice. CF Evan Marzilli (SRR) pitched in a pair of singles and a walk to the cause, also stealing his sixth base and scoring once. 1B Cal Towey (MSS) went 1-5 on the day, singling and scoring with his third stolen base, a fielding error, and two strike outs. The bottom of the order also produced with the last three batters all reaching base twice. RF Jacob Hannemann (MSS) singled and walked, C Spencer Kieboom (MSS) singled, walked, and drove in one, and LF Boog Powell (MSS) did everthing Kieboom did with a strike out on top. LF Eddie Rosario (SRR) drove in the other run with a sac fly and he also tripled and struck out.
On the mound, RHP Mark Appel (SRR) was dominant again through five innings, allowing just one hit and no runs while hitting two batters and striking out four with no walks. He also balked but didn't factor in the decision despite the strong start. His opposition, LHP Sean Nolin (MSS) handled four innings of work with one run scoring on a solo homer, also allowing two more hits and a walk with three strike outs. RHP Arik Sikula (MSS) walked away with the win after contributing two scoreless frames, striking out three with a hit and a walk allowed.
