Game Recaps from Wednesday, November 5th
Mesa 11 - Glendale 2
A huge four hit game from their lead-off hitter powered Mesa to an 11-2 blowout over Glendale. 2B Jon Berti (MSS) homered and singled three times, even kicking in a walk to reach base all five times up to bat. He drove in two while also scoring three times. His double play partner SS Eric Stamets (MSS) went 3-4 with a double, two singles, two runs scored, and he also drove in one. 3B Kaleb Cowart (MSS) picked up his league leading third triple with two runs batted in, a strike out, and he also made his fifth error on a bad throw. 1B Dan Vogelbach (MSS) singled twice, drew a walk, and crossed the dish once while LF Bijan Rademacher (MSS) plated a pair with two sacrifice flies. Rademacher also scored once, worked a walk, and struck out. 2B Hector Gomez (GDD) roped a pair of doubles and scored once for the Desert Dogs with SS Corey Seager (GDD) picking up his league leading eighth double with two walks and an RBI. C Shawn Zarraga (GDD) drove in the only other run with a single and a walk.
RHP CJ Edwards (MSS) took the ball for Mesa and only gave them two innings, striking out four with one run scoring on two walks and two hits, also chucking a wild pitch. RHP Derek Self (MSS) earned the win with two innings of relief, surrendering a run on three hits and a walk without striking out anyone. RHP Matt Magill (GDD) only allowed two runs in his start, lasting five frames with a pair of walks and five hits, also striking out two. He didn't factor in the decision as RHP Parker Bridwell (GDD) was torn apart, allowing six runs on three hits and three walks while only recording one out.

Surprise 5 - Peoria 3
A four run 8th inning saved the Surprise pitching staff as they took a two run lead to beat Peoria 5-3. C Luke Maile (SUR) kicked off the rally with a solo shot to begin the inning, his only hit of the day to go with a strike out. SS Deven Marrero (SUR) doubled and singled, scoring once and driving in one while LF Jesse Winker (SUR) also singled, doubled, and plated one, also striking out. CF Nick Williams (SUR) and 3B Juan Perez (SUR) both had a multi-hit game as well with both players scoring once and hitting a pair of singles with Perez also getting caught stealing and striking out. CF Kyle Wren (PEJ) wreaked havoc going 3-4 with a pair of stolen bases, a double, and two singles. Wren also scored a run and struck out, also committing a fielding error. C Justin O'Conner (PEJ) reached base three times as well, working a walk and hitting a double and a single, driving in one. LF Jordan Smith (PEJ) also doubled, singled, and had an RBI with a run scored as well. RF Edward Salcedo (PEJ) kicked in his seventh double and walked while SS Francisco Lindor (PEJ) singled, walked, and was caught stealing.
RHP Sam Wolff (SUR) worked the first two innings for the Saguaros, allowing a run on three hits and a walk, striking out one and throwing a wild pitch. His opposition, RHP Dylan Baker (PEJ), handled 4.2 innings, surrendering one run on four hits with two punch outs and no free passes. Neither starter factored in the decision with RHP Cody Kendall (SUR) getting the win with a scoreless 8th inning, dancing around a hit and a walk, striking out one. RHP Ben Klimesh (SUR) worked the save allowing two hits in his inning of work, striking out one without any walks or runs scoring. RHP Matt Lollis (PEJ) took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits, only recording one out. He blew the save and also allowed a homer to Maile.

Salt River 8 - Scottsdale 4
The Scorpions thought they had the game in the bag with a huge, four run first inning, but they were unable to hold the lead, giving up five runs in the 5th en route to Salt River winning 8-4. CF Evan Marzilli (SRR) did a little bit of everything, going 3-3 with a solo home run, two singles, two stolen bases, three runs scored, and gunned down a runner at third base. He was also hit by a pitch. SS Justin Bohn (SRR) singled three times and walked, scoring once, driving in one, and was caught stealing. 2B Joe Sclafani (SRR) drove in two with a pair of singles and a walk, also striking out and making his first error booting a grounder. LF Eddie Rosario (SRR) and 3B Brandon Drury (SRR) each drove in two runs with Rosario doubling and Drury knocking a triple and drawing a walk. DH Josh Bell (SCO) went 2-4 with a double and two RBI's, scoring once and striking out. SS Matt Reynolds (SCO) also doubled in two with a walk and a strike out while 1B Greg Bird (SCO) drew two walks and scored once while also making an error and striking out.
RHP Rob Whalen (SCO) tossed three innings for Scottsdale, walking two and allowing a single and a solo home run to Marzilli while striking out three. On the other side of the field, RHP Christian Bergman (SRR) was torched for four runs on four hits and a walk, recording only two outs with one being a strike out. LHP Edgar Olmos (SRR) took home the win with two hitless innings of relief with two walks and a strike out. RHP Clayton Blackburn (SCO) was the losing pitcher after getting tagged for four runs in 1.2 innings, though two runs were unearned. He struck out two, allowed three hits, hit a batter and uncorked a wild pitch.
