A mammoth blast kicked off the scoring as 1B Greg Bird (East) extended on a fastball over the heart of the plate, depositing it an estimated 450 feet away to center field. The solo shot was his only hit for Bird and he also worked a walk and struck out. CF Hunter Renfroe (West) also hit a blast out onto the berm in left, also on a fastball that was left over the middle of the plate. CF Dalton Pompey (East) joined Bird and DH Josh Bell (East) as the only players on the East squad to play the whole game, going 1-5 with a two-run triple to the right field corner. He also made a made a fielding error, as did C Michael Ohlman (West) who made a throwing error and went 1-2 with a single. Bell showed a very patient approach at the plate, walking three times while also hitting a single and scoring twice. LF Roman Quinn (East) showed off his top of the scale speed with two stolen bases off one of the top defensive catchers in the minor leagues, C Justin O'Conner (West). Quinn also drove in two with two singles. RF Brandon Nimmo (East) also singled twice, the only other player in the showcase to put together a multi-hit game. LF Eddie Rosario (East) went 0-2 on the night, but he did work a walk and then subsequently stole second base, and he also threw out CF Tyrone Taylor (West) at second base. Taylor singled in two tries with a stolen base, and SS Corey Seager (West) worked the only walk for the East squad. SS Daniel Robertson (East) walked, singled, and struck out in his showing, also stealing a base. LF Nick Williams (East) singled and scored on a passed ball with a pair of strike outs.
RHP Archie Bradley (East) was dominant in his two inning start, earning the win with two scoreless innings of work while allowing a hit and a walk, striking out one. He was able to induce three ground outs and 19 of his 30 pitches found the strike zone. RHP Nick Howard (West) breezed through the first inning but came off the rails in the second by allowing a moon shot to Bird to lead off the inning. He finished the game with 1.2 innings of work, allowing four runs on four hits and a pair of walks, striking out two. Howard also uncorked a wild pitch, induced two ground outs and a fly out, and threw 23 strikes to 17 balls. RHP CJ Edwards (East) impressed by striking out two and allowing one hit in his lone inning of work, filling the zone with 10 strikes to just three balls. RHP Parker Bridwell (West) struck out the side in his inning of work, but had to do so while working around a walk and a single.
