Good afternoon baseball fans. Here is today's prediction and discussion thread for post-season Major League Baseball play.
In prospect news, the Arizona Fall League opens today. Nick Melotte will be hosting the daily Arizona Fall League discussion thread. I will post these separate big league post-season threads so we have a place to keep track of predictions. Let's talk about prospects in Nick's AFL thread and do the post-season stuff in this one.
Yesterday, the prediction was that the Cardinals would defeat the Dodgers 3-1 behind a gritty, veteran-leadership performance from grizzled John Lackey. That panned out; the Cards won 4-1 with Lackey being very veteran-leadershipy during his seven innings of eight-strikeout, one-run grizzled work.
The other prediction had the San Francisco Giants nipping the Washington Nationals 6-5, but that one was wrong, with the Nationals pushing back the Giants 4-1 in reality. This brings our post-season prediction record this year to a disturbingly non-psychic 4-4.
Today's gaze into the crystal ball: Cardinals triumph 9-6 in a high-offense game, Nationals pull out a 4-2 win over the Giants.
What say you?
