Good afternoon prospect watchers. Let's keep in mind that everyone here is a baseball fan. Surely we can find a way to get along with each other. If something offends you, either ignore it or report it. Attacking other posters is a violation of board rules.
On to more interesting topics.
***As promised, I wrote up Drake Britton as Prospect of the Day today and got the Chris Davis Prospect Retrospective posted. The next retros will be for Jeff Kent, LaTroy Hawkins, and C.J. Wilson, although the order is yet to be determined. Prospect of the Day candidates include Michael Choice, Vic Black, Leury Garcia, Chad Bettis, Ethan Martin, and Andrew Lambo. I haven't decided who to write up yet. I've had interest from readers in all of them.
***Yesterday's Minor League Ball Gameday thread.
***Speaking of Ethan Martin, he fanned six in five innings yesterday against the Atlanta Braves, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks. Since being promoted to the majors, Martin has a 16/8 K/BB in 14 innings with 18 hits and four homers allowed, resulting in a 6.28 ERA. I'll have more to say about Martin in the upcoming article, but so far the results are well within expectations: plenty of stuff, but command issues, which has been the story of his career through the minors. He walked 5.2 BB/9 in Triple-A this year and is at 5.5 in his career.
***Braves catching prospect Christian Bethancourt hit a home run for Double-A Mississippi yesterday and two more on August 11th, giving him 11 on the season. He's hitting .360 in his last 21 games, raising his season line to .291/.318/.462. I have been negative about him in the past but he is forcing me to re-assess. I think I'll put him on the Prospect of the Day list too.
