Good afternoon prospect watchers. I am taking today off to give my recently-neglected wife and children some quality time. I haven't checked the news and scores today and won't be doing so again until Monday morning, but you can catch up with yesterday's events in Saturday's Discussion Thread.
***Lee Warren has observations from Omaha about promising Kansas City Royals pitching prospect Yordano Ventura.
***I am going to post a separate Draft Hangover discussion thread so you can talk about what you like, or don't like, about how your favorite team did over the last four days. I will pick up my own draft analysis again tomorrow.
***I did see that Baltimore Orioles pitcher Kevin Gausman got beat up by the Rays yesterday. He's made four starts and struggled in three of them. Watching video and reading recaps of the games, it is apparent to me that he's been rushed a bit, hardly a surprise with less than half of a Double-A season under his belt, but his stuff looks really excellent, particularly that changeup. If he maintains his confidence and stays healthy, I still see him as a top-of-the-rotation guy. He just needs more innings.
***Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Gerrit Cole will be Prospect of the Day when we resume that feature on Tuesday.
***Today's slate of minor league baseball games.
Behave yourselves and have fun!
