2013 MLB Draft: Northeast Region Report

New, 28 comments

The Northeast is never strong because of the weather but there has been a few pretty solid players from the region as of late. There could be several impact players from this class.

Kaminsky is the cream of the crop this year. He should go in the top 15 picks. Oakley at #7 could be the next player picked but I don't see him that high. There are a handful of players here that could definitely improve to be high end prospects from this region.

1. Robert Kaminsky, P, HS, 35/65: elite lefty arm. 3 plus pitches

2. Tyler O'Neil, C, HS, 30/60: some brett lawrie. Tightly wound, fast bat. Impressive

3. Jarret DeHart, OF, HS, 35/55: fast bat. Good power potential. Solid all arouind tools.

4. Jake Fraley, OF, HS, 35/55: Some swing issues. Great athelte. All the tools to be a good player

5. Tom Milone, OF, SR, 30/55: good athlete. Fast. Very good all around tools.

6. Michael Shawaryn, P, HS, 30/50: good pitchability, up to 92.

7. Chris Oakley, P, HS, 20/60: big awkward guy. Needs a lot of work but potential is there.

8. Mark Armstrong, P, HS, 30/55: good athlete. Fresh arm. Could jump up

9. Cal Quantrill, P, HS, 30/50: Really smart. Good bloodlines. Very good stuff. Highly likely college guy.

10. Joe Dudek, 1B, HS, 25/50: big power bat. Good swing. Good defense at 1B

11. Dylan Manwaring, 3B, HS, 25/50: Good contact, needs power to develop. Might be a 1B

12. Jesse Roth, P, HS, 25/45: Projectable righty already in low 90's. Easy delivery

13. Matt Vogel, P, HS, 25/45: big windup, fast arm. High effort. Good swing at the plate. Could improve at S.C.

14. Lachlan Fontaine, 3B, HS, 25/45: big lefty bat. Good actions at 3B

16. Matthew Thaiss, C, HS, 25/45: nice swing. Smooth and easy. Needs to stick behind the plate
