Pete Kozma!

Good morning minor league fans and baseball prospect watchers. Use this thread to share your ideas and discuss today's events in the Alligator and Rattlesnake Leagues. Some potential items of interest for your consideration and possible enjoyment:

***Rafael Furcal needs Tommy John surgery and the St. Louis Cardinals are looking for a replacement shortstop. Everyone is talking about Pete Kozma and Ronny Cedeno as possible internal subs for Furcal. I would have thought Ryan Jackson would get more consideration, but he's just 2-for-14 this spring and is being looked at more as a second baseman. I'm not sure I get that; he's always looked very good at shortstop to me.

My bet is that Kozma ends up with the job due to his hot spring (10-for-25 thus far) and his run last fall, but the entirety of Kozma's track record hardly makes me confident. That said, he was a first-round pick. His career was a disappointment until September 2012, but the tools were there and maybe something clicked.

***Miami Marlins prospect Jake Marisnick does a Q&A with Minor League Baseball.

***Can lefty Michael Montgomery rebound with a new organization? He was clearly regressing with the Royals, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him perform much better with the Rays.

***Marc Hulet at Fangraphs summarizes his Top 15 prospect lists.

***Another contributor for college baseball will be coming on-line here later today, with some personal observations from games. And yes, we are moving forward with adding more contributors for minor league coverage. Stand by for that.

***I am still working on my Top 120 list. Sorry it is taking so long.
