These threads are always popular and a good way to get to know one another. So let's do it again: what are you reading?
Right now my current non-baseball book is The Last Zero Fighter: Firsthand Accounts from WWII Japanese Naval Pilots, by Dan King. The book is exactly what it sounds like and I find it fascinating. King is completely fluent in Japanese language and culture, and was able to get these men (who are all in their late 80s and 90s now) to open up about their war experiences in a way that few, if any, Western authors would be able to do.
This included some surviving Japanese pilots from the Pearl Harbor Raid and the Battle of Midway, and one pilot who participated in the bombing of the USS Panay prior to the outbreak of the war.
The book has a few organizational and editing issues, but the information contained within is absolutely absorbing.
