I stopped paying close attention to Chicago Cubs prospect Josh Vitters as soon as he got to the majors, my mind being drawn to other subjects, but I decided to check up on him this afternoon and saw his discouraging major league stat line: 5-for-54 (.093), with one walk and 19 strikeouts.
Typically, the next step is to check pitch F/X data and scouting information to see what's going on here, but before I do that, I want to get your opinions first. So, Cubs fans (or anyone else who has seen Vitters play in the majors): what's going on here? What have you noticed when you see Vitters play?
I am primarily interested in any impressions and observations you may have about him BEFORE you check the pitch F/X data or scouting summaries. I can do that here, but I want to hear what you guys have to say based on what you've seen from Vitters yourself, in person or on TV. This goes for both his offense and his defense.
