Top 30 players for the 2012 Draft

6

1. Byron Buxton, OF, Appling County HS (GA) Last season it was Bubba Starling who wowed everyone with his ability to do just about anything he wanted on a baseball field. This year, Buxton is showing the kind of abilities not seen in many players his age, and maybe not since Ken Griffey Jr. After hitting .594 with 10 home runs and 48 RBI as a junior, the 6’-1" right-hander has been even more impressive this season. He is hitting .519 with 10 doubles and three triples, and he has only struck out one time over his first 18 games. He has been equally impressive on the mound where he is 6-0 with 67 K/9 BB over 34 innings to go with a 1.65 ERA. Buxton is a superior athlete with few holes in his game. His elite speed, mixed with his extremely quick wrists and power, make him one of the better power/speed guys in the draft.
